Inspection Bodies

ISO/IEC 17020: Latest – General Criteria for the Activity of Different Kinds of Bodies Performing Inspection is a globally recognized standard for the competence of inspection bodies. Many people mistakenly confuse ISO/IEC 17020 with ISO 9001, which is a generic quality management system standard. ISO/IEC 17020 requires assessment of the specialized competence of an inspection body.

WOAB expects inspection bodies to comply with the latest version of the following:

  • ISO/IEC 17020: Latest – General Criteria for the Activity of Different Types of Bodies Performing Inspection.
  • Demonstrated specialized competence clearly defined for the field in which inspection is performed.
  • The WOAB Accreditation Scheme Manual.
